Program: November 2011 Curator: Don't You Have Docs?
programWhat is it about the human condition that drives people to the extreme? Wether it's jumping off a cliff, walking 4000km or taking on Mexican drug cartels, there is something mesmerising about those who feel compelled to push the bounds of human experience. Therefore for our last Don't You Have Docs? screening for 2011 our November edition will feature a short docs program based on the theme 'Extremity'.
After our little sojourn to Cinema Nova for last month's Generation Next Documentary Conference we return to our usual home at Loop for this year's finale. Come along and celebrate the conclusion to our inaugural year with a beer or two and some really great films. See you there at 7.30 pm on Monday November 21. Entry is free. As usual the program below is also available to view online at our Mubi Garage Channel.
Welcome to Planet Earth dir Michael Livingston
Welcome to Planet Earth is the story of the extremely unique Jody Pendarvis and his 30 foot UFO he built in his front yard in the small town of Bowman, SC. After a sighting of alien life forms, Jody built the giant UFO as a place to welcome aliens when they return. All though visitors are welcomed to check out this unique and slightly odd landmark, Jody hopes that he will one day see the return of his friends from the sky. This is his story.

Space, Land and Time: Underground Adventures with Ant Farm dir Beth Federici and Laura Harrison
An independent video documentary, this is the first film to delve into the work of the renegade 1970s art/architecture collective Ant Farm, best known for its iconic land-art piece Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX. Radical architects, video pioneers, and mordantly funny cultural commentators, the Ant Farmers created a body of deeply subversive work that questioned everything by posing a set of creative and comedic alternatives.
